This article covers installing Itheon Performance Monitor on a fresh, supported Linux server. Make sure the server meets the requirements in System Requirements before you begin.
1Obtain the installer
Download the iPM installation package for your Linux distribution from the itheon customer portal, or from the link provided by your itheon representative. Copy it to the target server.
2Run the installer
Log in to the server as a user with sudo/root privileges and run the installer package. It will:
- Install the required system packages and dependencies
- Set up the iPM monitoring engine, web console, and database
- Start the iPM services and enable them to launch on boot
3Open the firewall
If the server has a firewall enabled (firewalld, ufw, etc.), allow inbound HTTPS access on the port the console listens on (443 by default) so you and your team can reach it from your workstations.
4Access the web console
From a browser on your network, go to: https://your-server-address/
You will be greeted by the iPM login screen.
5Log in for the first time
Use the default administrator credentials provided with your installation package. If you do not have them, check the installer output or contact your itheon representative.
Important: change the default administrator password immediately after your first login. See Initial Configuration for the recommended first steps after install.
Once you are logged in, you will land on the main dashboard. At this point iPM is running but not yet monitoring anything, so continue to Initial Configuration to prepare the system, then First Monitoring Setup to add your first device.
